The Non-Destructive Testing and Evaluation (NDT&E) laboratory utilizes radiography and other approaches to assist clients in obtaining quality assurance.

Testing results in the realization of such manufacturing goals as improved quality through flaw detection, rejection of substandard materials before finishing, establishment of standards, the elimination or minimization of costly failures, and the improvement of design integrity. These techniques are also employed to determine if test specimens are representative of the material or structure and to indicate anomalous areas prior to testing.

This laboratory also conducts macroscopic and microscopic examinations of materials and structures. These studies are used to assist with design problems in the development of unique composite structures and to aid in the interpretation of test and/or performance data.
