Biddeford, Maine, May 15, 2020 – FMI, a leading provider of high-temperature materials and next-generation aerostructures is giving back to the community with a donation of $12,500 to Good Shepherd Food Bank.

FMI supports various community efforts throughout the year and felt that during these challenging times of the Coronavirus, the opportunity to help was greater than ever. The team at FMI rallied together to support the efforts of the Good Shepherd Food Bank to help Mainers in need.

As the largest hunger-relief organization in Maine, Good Shepherd Food Bank provides for Mainers facing hunger by distributing nutritious food to more than 500 partner agencies across the state, including food pantries, meal sites, schools, and senior programs. Together with its network, the Food Bank leads a statewide effort to combat the root causes of hunger by engaging in advocacy, nutrition education, and strategic partnerships. In 2019, the Food Bank distributed more than 25 million meals to families, children, and seniors in need throughout Maine.

“The Food Bank generally relies on retail donations for about 70% of our annual meal distributions,” stated Kristen Miale, president of Good Shepherd Food Bank. “But retail donations have declined sharply, and we had to shift our model to purchasing more food to make up the difference. We are grateful for this significant donation from FMI’s employees and match, which will enable us to distribute food to our 500+ partner agencies at no cost.”
